In Amazing Spiderman 2, the characters of actors Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are romantically involved, with the on-screen chemistry described as "electric" and "beautifully genuine".

The reason as the on-screen couple are also dating in real life.

It got us thinking about how close actors must become when playing romantic roles and how often it transfers into real-life.

Apparently it's rather common.

They don't all live happily ever after but here is our top 10 screen-to-life relationships.

1. Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield. Movie: The Amazing Spiderman

Their chemistry while filming the original Spiderman movie in 2011 was clear for all the see and it was not long before their on-screen romance transferred to real life. The pair have been going strong ever since but rarely acknowledge or talk about it during interviews.

2. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Movie: Mr and Mrs Smith

Brad Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston when he started making Mr and Mrs Smith with Angelina Jolie in 2005. Their sex scenes were reportedly very steamy and it was not long until speculation started that they had been getting in a bit of practise with each other in real life. Pitt soon divorced Aniston, shacked up with Jolie and they now have six adopted and biological kids together.

3. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling. Movie: The Notebook

It would have been almost impossible for these two not to get together after working on such a romantic movie as this. The pair were reported to be dating during the making of the 2004 film and confirmed it in 2005. They split two years later but have both gone on to date future co-stars. McAdams dated Michael Sheen after meeting on the set of Midnight in Paris in 2010, while Gosling was with Eva Mendes for more than two years since they filmed The Place Beyond The Pines in 2011.

4. Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck. Movie: Daredevil

Until Affleck's recent gambling problems, this celebrity power couple had been going strong for almost a decade. Now the gossip mags are reporting their relationship is on the rocks. They first got together during the filming of superhero flick Daredevil, where Affleck played a blind vigilante lawyer and Garner his love interest Elektra.

5. Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz. Movie: The Dream House

The James Bond actor and the Weisz began dating after filming The Dream House in November 2010. The following June it was confirmed that the couple had married in a small ceremony - with only four people in attendance - in New York City.

6. Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan. Movie: Step Up
These beautiful actors, who are always beaming when together, met on the set of their first big-screen movie, Step Up and fell in love on screen and off. They have been together since 2005 and tied the knot in 2009. They recently filmed another movie, 10 Years, and welcomed their daughter, Everly, this year.

7. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. Movie: The Last Song

The pair were America's youngest and hottest sweethearts after hooking up on the set of the 2009 Nicholas Sparks movie, The Last Song. They even got engaged at one point but things took a turn for the worse after Cyrus' infamous VMA performance last year and it was splitsville not long after.

8. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Movie: Green Lantern

They met on the set of this 2011 film while Reynolds was still married to Scarlett Johansson. Unfortunately for Johansson the pair fell in love. Reynolds played the lead role of Hal Jordan and swept Lively's character Carol Ferris off her feet. He did the same in real life and they've been married since December 2012.

9. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Movie: Twilight

Hollywood's favourite vampire couple were always coy about their relationship off-screen. They starred opposite each other in all of the Twilight films, starting in 2008. After almost four years together and one cheating scandal, the couple called it quits in May 2013.

10. Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. Movie: Scooby Doo

They first met while filming I Know What You Did Last Summer in 1997 but did not become romantically involved until filming Scooby Doo in 2001. Technically they weren't a couple in the movie but Prinze Jr's character, Fred, always had an interest in Gellar's character, Daphne. It led to what has become a rare long-term Hollywood relationship, with the pair celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary in September 2013.
