Lauren Cohan's character fights zombies in a post-apocalyptic world gone mad and still finds time for intimacy.

The 32-year-old actress who plays Maggie Greene said that's all part of the job in a new interview for Nylon Guys magazine.

Lauren may find the hot and dirty location shoots in Georgia daunting, but it certainly helps to have a friendly co-star in Steven Yeun, who plays her love interest Glenn.

The pair have made out in a deserted small-town pharmacy and other unlikely places where the possibility of flesh-eating 'walkers' stepping in on them is strong.

'I'm so lucky that Steven is my co-star, because we're good friends - we see the comedy of it, but we also want it to be real,' Lauren told the magazine.

The main thing is keeping the scenario 'believable' and that means stripping off in front of the cameras now and then.

'The naffest thing in the world is watching a sex scene where people still have a bra on,' Lauren said. 'As an actor, you're supposed to portray reality and let people get completely lost in this world. That includes wonderful, gentle, delicate things like sex, too.

'Why should I want to make decapitation believable and then not want to make sex believable? Sex is the best thing ever. And decapitation is so-so.'

For her Nylon Guys spread, Lauren assumed some provocative poses.

In one photo, the blue-eyed brunette is seen wearing a red blouse with gaping front exposing a lacy black bra, and a short skirt.

Her long, slender neck is tilted to the side while the background looms dark and mysterious behind her.

Another photo shows the star lounging on a comfy bed in yellow top and striped shorts, while giving the camera a confident, bright-eyed look.

Lauren exudes the confidence she said she didn't have growing up in New Jersey, then the UK.

'I was skinny as a twig, so I was already the awkwardest awkward girl,' the actress said of her teen years, adding with a laugh: 'Then I got boobs, which was great.'

The long-awaited season five of The Walking Dead airs on Sunday on AMC.

Whether her character, Maggie Greene, survives the zombies remains in the dark.

'I can't say if I figure into that at all. A big theme of the show is that we can't talk about it,' Lauren told Nylon Guys.

She continued: 'One good thing about The Walking Dead is that it makes you a little less precious about things. You're out in the sweaty Georgia heat covered in bugs and dirt all day, so you end up being a little more carefree about how you dress and what you own.

'We' re dipping in and out of the most vulnerable, grave situations all the time, and we just remain in this messy place that's awesome. In any one moment, you're going to have to pretend you had your hand in somebody's guts, but then you still have to go and cook some food.'

She also talked about her new-found love for fast cars.

Lauren gushed Nylon Guys: 'I think everything is fun. I play dress-up. Right now, I have a loaner Corvette while I'm in LA. A black Corvette f***g Stingray. Excuse my French. It's dangerous.

'When I first stepped into it, I was like, "This isn't my car." Now, I'm comfortable, but it's like I'm playing at being a Corvette driver.'

The Corvette evokes 'some deep hair-rock part of all of us,' she added.
