They say that love is blind, but it isn't often mentioned how it can be a bit of a weirdo as well!
Sometimes celebrity couples emerge that are literally impossible to wrap your head around, and here is a section of the most baffling pairings below!
1. Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden
When I first reported on this relationship, I received plenty of comments that the images must have been photoshopped because this pairing is just too weird.
Fast-forward a few months and Hollywood's most high profile bachelorette had tied the know with Good Charlotte lead guitarist, Benji Madden.
These pop punk has-beens clearly must have something going for them, Benji's twin brother Joel is married to Diaz's good friend Nicole Richie.
2. Amber Tamblyn and David Cross
There are almost twenty years between this loved up couple, but they haven't let the age difference hold them back.
31-year-old Amber Tamblyn and 50-year-old David Cross might look like an odd couple, but they both share an unconventional and alternative attitude that has allowed their relationship to thrive,
Cross is best known for his portrayal of never nude Tobias Fünke in Arrested Development and you will probably recognize Tamblyn from Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and her role as Jenny in Two and a Half Men. She is also an established poet.
3. Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney
It's not everyday you see someone who wouldn't look out of place as an Abercrombie and Finch model dating someone whose dress sense makes even the most extreme goth look tame, but that's what happened with Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga.
This unlikely pair have been dating since 2011, and they seem very much in love. This couple might be super secretive about their private life (there are rumors that they are actually married), but they aren't shy about PDAs and waxing poetic about each other in public.
In late 2014, Gaga explained how Kinney was:
The first man that I have dated that, when I sing onstage, he cries. That means more to me than anything

4. Sandra Bullock and Jesse James
Some unions are simply too odd to last and Sandra Bullock's surprising marriage to famous motorcycle customizer, Jesse James, was one of those.
The pair met in 2005 when Bullock was taking her 10-year-old motorcycle crazy Godson to visit Monster Garage and began dating almost immediately afterwards.
Bullock's ex-husband claims to be related to the great American outlaw and namesake, Jesse James, and if his behavior during his marriage is anything to go by it's probably true.
James cheated on Bullock with multiple women and she cancelled her promotional tour for The Blind Side siting 'unforeseen personal reasons.' James made a public apology to his wife stating that "There is only one person to blame for this whole situation, and that is me," but the damage was done and the pair divorced in 2010.
Before the divorce, Bullock and James were planning on adopting a child together, but after the separation Bullock continued with the process and adopted the baby as a single parent.
5. Michael Jackson and Brooke Sheilds
For some reason the thought of Michael Jackson dating anyone is enough to send a shiver up most people's spines, but having a relationship with '80s darling Brooke Shields is a whole new level entirely.
Shields was just 15-years-old when she met 23-year-old Jackson at the Oscars in 1981 and the pair struck up a close friendship. Shields claimed that she felt comfortable around Jackson because he seemed almost asexual.
The pair discussed marriage and possibly adopting children together, but it never happened.
Sheilds and Jackson grew apart as they got older but in a 2001 interview Jackson said that Shields was:
One of the loves of my life. I just wished she loved me as much as I loved her. We dated a lot.
Reflecting on their relationship after Micheal's death, Shield acknowledged how they had always been seen as an odd pair. She explained:
Thinking back to when we met and the many times that we spent together and whenever we were out together, there would be a caption of some kind, and the caption usually said something like 'an odd couple' or 'an unlikely pair,' but to us it was the most natural and easiest of friendships.... Michael always knew he could count on me to support him or be his date and that we would have fun no matter where we were. We had a bond.
6. Chelsea Handler and 50 Cent
After meeting for the first time for Handler's late-night talk show in 2009, this unlikely pair really hit it off and began dating for a short period of time.
Although it was more of a casual fling than anything else, Fiddy and Handler clearly think a lot of each other. When asked about what he found so attractive about Handler, 50 Cent explained that:
Chelsea is confident. I think confidence is the sexiest thing about a person. She's the kind of person that if you're blessed with the opportunity to hang out with her, you'll enjoy it. I'm not sure you'll look at her and actually want to jump over the table and fuck her, but you might. You would leave after talking with her feeling that she is a cool person
And, the positive feelings are mutual. Handler told Piers Morgan that:
He's a great guy... he's the complete antithesis of what you'd imagine. He's a sweetheart, he's great, he's funny, he has a great sense of humor
7. Geoffrey Arend and Christina Hendricks
You would expect a stunner like Christina Hendricks to be the one being pursued by potential suitors, but her more unconventionally attractive husband was actually pursued by the Mad Men actress who had a "magnetic attraction" to him.
The 39-year-old actress opened up to Cosmopolitan magazine about the moment she first laid eyes on her future husband. She explained:
Geoffrey walked in and I was like, 'Who is this guy?' He had amazing hair and was all dishevelled - he was running late and everyone was waiting for him. He just came in with this very high energy.
He was just charming, funny and very magnetic. I got his number that night under the pretence of, "We could just be friends." And of course I immediately went home and Googled him
Soon afterwards the pair were declaring their love for one another before getting married in 2009.
8. Mary-Kate Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy
The petite Mary-Kate Olson and Olivier Sarkozy might look like father and daughter, but they are reportedly very happy in their relationship together.
Sarkozy, who is the brother of the former French president, started dating Olsen in 2012 and the pair tied the knot in October last year.
Olsen is also the step-mother to Sarkozy's two children from a previous marriage.
9. Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger
When the music of teenage emo girls and middle aged dads combined, a Canadian super couple was born.
Jaws around the nation dropped when 30-year-old (yes, really) Avril Lavigne started dating the 40-year-old Nickelback frontman, but the pair proved everyone wrong about their suitability as a couple by getting married in 2013 (on Canada Day, no less!)
10. Edward Norton and Courtney Love
Edward Norton dated controversial grunge rocker Courtney Love after meeting her on the set of The People vs. Larry Flynt in 1997.
Nobody could understand why the Hollywood star was dating someone with a highly documented heroin problem, but the pair remained together for three years before going their separate ways.
11. Hayden Panettiere and Wladimir Klitschko
It doesn't take much to realize why this pair is seen as such an odd couple!
Panettiere is almost a foot and a half shorter than her towering boxer husband, and the actress says she receives pretty personal questions from strangers about their sex life because of it. She told Ellen that:
