Staged scenes, smear campaigns, blatant lies and dirty tricks have contributed to a steep ratings decline for the Kardashian family reality TV show. The once-popular "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" has dropped from a high of four million viewers per episode at its peak, to less than two million, according to Dec. 9 news reports from News.com and the Herald Sun. And the Kardashians have no one to blame but themselves. Let's take a closer look at some of the dirty tricks and by questionable behavior by the Kardashians that caused their show to lose an average of one million viewers per episode. Staged Scenes
Many former Kardashian fans became disillusioned after learning that "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" is 90% staged, though it professes to be a reality TV show. Much of the Kardashian-Jenner fakery was exposed when depositions were taken during the Kim Kardashian - Kris Humphries divorce. It was revealed that many scenes were staged and much of the raw footage edited to make Kris Humphries look bad in order to justify Kim filing for divorce after being married only 72 days. A deposition from one of the reality show's producers revealed the incidents below, followed by two more recent examples of stages scenes.
- Kim routinely used a "tear stick" to induce tears in scenes that required her to cry.
- So-called "candid" scenes like Humphries' proposal to Kim were repeatedly reshot until Kim was satisfied with the expression on her face.
- Humphries original idea to propose to Kim on the beach was nixed and instead a proposal scene was staged in the studio with candlelight and rose petals to get the "right effect" for reality TV.
- What appeared to be an intimate conversation between Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner discussing her marital unhappiness which allegedly took place while they were traveling in Dubai, was actually filmed in the studio weeks after Kim filed for divorce.
- Another faked scene involved a diamond earring which Kim lost while frolicking in the ocean during a family vacation, which one of her sisters "miraculously" found.
- Kris Jenner's own husband Bruce complained about how the Kardashian clan portrayed on the family's reality TV show. After Kris Jenner formally announced her split from Bruce 3 months ago, Kris planned to stage a fake reunion with her estranged husband in order to give the show's ratings a boost. Much to the dismay of his family and the show's producers, Bruce informed everyone that even though he's contractually obligated to continue filming the family's reality TV show, he will no longer fake scenes or storylines. Personal Vendettas and Smear Campaigns
The Kardashian clan has made a practice of planting fake stories in the media and launching smear campaigns as a form of revenge. Anyone who trashes the Kardashians, portrays them in a negative light, crosses them, or fails to dance to the Kardashian tune will find themselves the target of a smear campaign. Consider the three incidents below:
When Kim Kardashian filed for divorce after 72 days of marriage and Kris Humphries dared to request an annulment on the grounds of fraud instead, he became the victim of a vicious Kardashian clan character assassination campaign. The first thing the Kardashians did was use their reality TV show to make ridicule Kris Humphries and make him look like a fool. hen Humphries refused Kim's $7 million divorce bribe the Kardashians falsely accused Humphries of trying to extort a $10 million settlement from Kim. See Kris Humphries Wants the TRUTH from Kim Kardashian, NOT Money or Publicity
The Kardashians repeatedly lied on Kris Humphries, and falsely accused him of trashing Kim even though he adamantly refused to talk about Kim and there's no record of him saying anything about her at all. The Kardashians accused Humphries of dragging out the divorce proceedings for publicity and personal gain, knowing it wasn't true. It was actually Kim Kardashian's fault that the divorce dragged on for as long as it did. She made excuse after excuse, and repeatedly postponed and rescheduled sitting for her deposition. Kim finally gave her deposition several months after Humphries had already given his. Meanwhile the Kardashians continued to do everything in their power to ruin Kris Humphries reputation. Now, because Lamar Odom cheated on his wife Khloe, he's getting the "Kardashian treatment" too.
The Kardashians are now using the same tactics on Lamar Odom that they used on Kris Humphries with a threefold purpose in mind – to retaliate against Lamar for cheating on Khloe, to make Khloe look good, and to boost the ratings on their reality TV show. When two of Lamar Odom's mistresses passed lie detector tests, it was impossible for the Kardashians to refute the infidelity claims. Suddenly the media was flooded with (Kardashian-planted) stories alleging that Lamar Odom was addicted to prescription drugs and crack cocaine. The timing alone of all these "leaked" stories and phony evidence seems suspicious. So do the claims that Lamar was an addict who regularly used hard drugs while pursuing a successful professional basketball career. It also interesting to note that when Lamar was ready to join a professional NBA team again, his so-called addiction disappeared overnight, and he was able to provide medical proof that he is, in fact, drug free.
The Kardashians have spent months trying to convince everyone that Lamar is a drug addict by lying on him, spreading false rumors about Lamar, and "planting" fake stories about his alleged drug binges to the press. In addition, the Kardashians have staged scenes for season 9 of their reality TV show designed to humiliate Lamar Odom and portray him in the worst possible light. Not only have the Kardashians destroyed Lamar Odom's personal reputation with their smear campaign, they've undermined his professional basketball career. It's unclear whether or not Khloe Kardashian took an active part in the character assassination of her husband, but she certainly knew what was going on. Maybe the real reason Khloe hasn't filed for divorce is because she knows the Lamar Odom drug addiction stories are false. The Kardashians even planted the (familiar, but false) rumor that Lamar was demanding $10 milliion dollars in exchange for giving Khloe a divorce.
Lamar Odom's father , Joe gave an interview insisting that his son was NOT a drug addict, that the Kardashians were lying on Lamar, that all Lamar's troubles started after he married into the Kardashian clan,and that Kris Jenner was an evil b*tch. Kris Jenner went ballistic when she heard about it because she knew what Joe Odom said was true. The Kardashian clan matriarch schemed and connived to punish Joe Odom and damage his credibility.
According to insiders, it was someone from the Kardashian clan who hacked into Lamar's Twitter account and posted a Tweet trashing Lamar's dad for his negative comments and praising the Kardashian clan. Meanwhile, Lamar was not even aware that his father had given an interview. The next barrage of stories the Kardashians "leaked" to the media claimed that Lamar was retaliating against his dad cutting off his financial support. Lamar's wife, Khloe, and Kris Jenner, who is Lamar's personal manager control the bulk of Lamar's money. See Lamar Odom's Money Under Kardashian Family's Control. For "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" the End is Very Near
Once devoted fans no longer want to keep up with the Kardashians. It's no wonder the show's ratings have steadily declined. Staged scenes, smear campaigns, lies, deception and other dirty tricks have jeopardized the future of the last Kardashian family's remaining reality TV show. The spin-off shows featuring featuring Kourtney and Khloe have already ceased. Kourtney Kardashian and her boyfriend Scott Disick were reportedly negotiating a spin-off show of their own. But that may be in jeopardy, too.
If the ratings for "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" continue to decline, the show might actually be dropped.
