The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills are no stranger to doctors.

And amid reports of a major cast shakeup, the reality stars may soon be getting help from a sex therapist.

The Bravo series is reportedly in talks with famed love guru and author Dr. Ava Cadell to become the latest 90210 housewife.

According to Popdust, Dr. Ava is at the 'top of producers' short list' to join the popular series, which has seen a drop in ratings this season.

An insider told Popdust, '[RHOBH production company Evolution] has actually been trying to get Ava to join the cast for two years now, but it hasn't been the right time for her previously.

She would be great for the show, she's really outspoken, she doesn't shy away from being controversial or outrageous and she has a very aspirational lifestyle.'

Apparently, the good doctor, who has appeared on Good Morning America and Extra, is definitely interested in adding to the drama.

'If they can agree terms she will definitely join the cast next season,' added the insider.

The 57-year-old therapist has written seven books and founded Loveology University, an 'on-line university of love coaching,' through which she imparts her knowledge to students who will follow her career path to become 'loveologists'.

Dr. Ava has a doctorate in human behavior from Newport University in California and a doctorate of education in human sexuality from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco.

Through her private practice in Los Angeles, she counsels people on personal issues that
range from anger management, fear of intimacy, lack of communication, to lack of desire.

The brunette sex therapist has been married to Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Peter L. Knecht since 1992.

Last week, RadarOnline reported that producers were looking for two 'more dramatically inclined stars next year' in order to lure viewers back.

Kim Richards, who has been a part of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills since it first began back in 2010, is rumoured to be in danger of getting the axe due to her 'boring' storyline, according Radar.

'The network is not entirely happy with the ratings for the current season of Beverly Hills and sadly, despite being Paris Hilton's aunt, she has little going on in her life,' a production insider told Radar.

'Viewers don't care about watching Kim's dog getting training. It's boring!'

But according to the website, Kim's younger sister Kyle has 'threatened to quit' the show, should Bravo get rid of her sibling.

The Real Housewives cast currently consists of the Richards sisters, Lisa Vanderpump, Brandi Glanville, Yolanda Foster, and newcomers Joyce Giraud and Carlton Gebbia.

Luckily for producers, Brandi's fights with Joyce have helped propel interest with ratings reaching two million viewers in December.
