Real Love white-hot Perth Cup favourite

Real Love could start one of the shortest-priced Perth Cup favourites in recent years after the TAB slashed her quote to $2.50.

Opening last week as the $4.20 favourite for the 2400m race on January 1, Real Love strengthened her grip on the $500,000 feature with a superb win in the Queen's Cup (2200m) at Ascot on Saturday.

The mare continued Bob and Sandra Peters' domination of Ascot feature races this season.

The breeder-owners have won 10 of the 24 black-type races. Real Charm's Jungle Dawn Classic victory gave them a feature double on Saturday.

Bob Peters is weighing up whether to start Real Love in the $250,000 CB Cox Stakes (2100m) or $100,000 WA St Leger (2100m) on December 20.

She is also the Cox Stakes favourite at $3.20.

"I'll toss up on that later on," Peters said. "We'll have Elite Belle for the Cox Stakes anyway. Respondent will possibly go to the St Leger, but I'm not sure yet.

"Real Love and Real C harm were very good on Saturday. Real Love was hard and fit and she really trimmed up from her previous run.

"We've had a strong year on the black-type side.

"We've always been strong in the autumn and looked promising for the summer but haven't got the results.

"We made some changes to our business plan and it seems to be working."

Real Love will again firm in betting for the Perth Cup if she can win the Cox Stakes or the St Leger.

"She will raise the bar for the stayers. She's got a few lengths on these," trainer Adam Durrant said after Saturday's win.

Cats Fun started a hot $2.35 favourite when winning the Group 2 feature in 2008.

The Peters family and Durrant won with $3 favourite Lords Ransom in 2010.

Bob Peters will stick to his plan to skip next year's WATC Derby (2400m) with Disposition, who ran a close second to Moriarty in the Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) on Saturday.

Railway Stakes (1600m) winner Elite B elle ran on strongly for third and Respondent ran 12th.

Peters said Disposition, who was also runner-up in the WA Guineas (1600m), would be considered for an interstate campaign next autumn.

"That was definitely his last run and I don't know what I'm going to do with him," Peters said.

"Apart from the distance races, there isn't much here for him in the autumn."
