I don't know if you guys know this, but Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson have been dating since 2006. They're very in love and they share residences in Paris and Vancouver, but throughout their nine year relationship, they've never gotten married or even engaged.
It happens all the time in the real world that non-famous people live together or have kids without making it 'official', but things are different in Hollywood. Whereas normal couples may only have to endure the 'so, when's the wedding??' questions once a season at holiday parties, famous people have to put up with it pretty much 24/7. If they aren't being asked about future plans in interviews, their photos are being plastered on magazine covers with captions like WHERE'S THE RING or TROUBLE IN PARADISE??
Basically, you have to have some serious stones to hold your ground and avoid caving one day and going FINE LET'S GET MARRIED TOMORROW IF IT'S SO IMPORTANT TO AMERICA. And Diane and Josh haven't, and neither have rest of the celebrities on this list, which we think is something to celebrate. Some of them are engaged and some aren't, but what they all have in common is that they're not rushing down the aisle.
So in honor of Diane's thirty-eighth birthday today, here are thirteen celebrity couples who know what's right for them, are taking it at their own pace, and are in absolutely no hurry to get married.

Diane had been married before, to a man named Guilliame Canet, and she has no interest in going down that road again, saying:
"Without sounding pessimistic, I learned that I don't believe in marriage. . .I believe in a commitment that you make in your heart. There's no paper that will make you stay.
And luckily, that seems to be something that Josh agrees with as well, although he left the door slightly further open when he said:
"Marriage is important for the people it's important for, but neither one of us is particularly religious, so I don't think there's any particular push. But never say never! I don't know."
2. Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell

Kurt and Goldie started dating in 1984, both having been married before, and have been together ever since, meaning their three decade relationship has outlasted most Hollywood marriages at this point. They even have a child together and everything, but they were just never that interested in tying the knot. According to Goldie:
"We have done just perfectly without marrying. I already feel devoted and isn't that what marriage is supposed to do? So as long as my emotional state is in a state of devotion, honesty, caring and loving, then we're fine."
3. Oprah and Stedman Graham
(Dimitri Halkidis / WENN.com)
I didn't realize this before, but apparently Oprah and Stedman have actually been engaged since 1992, six years after they began their relationship in 1986. It just became clear to both of them that marriage wasn't what they wanted:
"Actually, Stedman asked me to marry him, and at first I said 'Yes!' but it turned out that I wanted to be asked to be married more than I wanted to be married…It just felt like the wrong thing for me. This was at the same time that I was supposed to have the book coming out. We were in Miami, in the back of a limousine, coming back from the party with the big shrimp, and Stedman asks, 'So when is the book coming out?' The book was coming out September 14 or something, and our wedding had been scheduled for September 8. We had a date and everything. So Stedman says, 'Well, I don't want to have my wedding in competition with your book.' And I remember thinking, 'Yes! Really? Okay, great! I ended up canceling both, and we have not discussed it since that day."
4. Jon Hamm and Jennifer Westfeldt

Jon and Jennifer have been together since 1997 but have never seen a reason to push things past that point. As Jon explained:
"I don't have the marriage chip, and neither of us have the greatest examples of marriages in our families. But Jen is the love of my life, and we've already been together four times longer than my parents were married."
5. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

Brangelina has never been anything but nontraditional, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that they've done things opposite than most celebrities. First they had a baby together, then they admitted their relationship, then said they weren't going to get married until everyone could, then got engaged anyway in 2012 because it was important to their six kids.
"We made this declaration some time ago that we weren't going to do it till everyone can. But I don't think we'll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment."
And there they've stayed ever since, happily unmarried since 2005 and doing the slowest wedding planning that ever there has been in the world.
6. Amy Adams and Darren Le Gallo

Amy and Darren have been dating since 2001 and engaged since 2008, but Amy has said as recently as 2013 that she has no plans to get married any time soon, even though they have a three-year old daughter together, Aviana.
"We both have a very specific idea that we want to do this [the ceremony] in spring or fall, like in those months, but every time I'm busy working. I want something very family oriented and laid-back."
7. Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick
(WENN.com)
Kourtney and Scott have been a couple since 2007 and have two children together, Mason and Penelope, with another on the way, but they still haven't taken the plunge to make honest…humans of each other. While Scott has pushed for the commitment, Kourtney has held her ground, saying:
"I definitely don't want to get married just for the sake of getting married. This is my life. I don't need a piece of paper to make it a family unit."
8. Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter
(Apega/WENN.com)
They've been together since 2001 and have collaborated in pretty much every way that two people can, on projects, by having children together, and even buying adjoining houses and connecting them. Annnd that's pretty much as far as they want it to go:
"We're not [married], actually. Through laziness, really. Our houses are married. It is very good to have. You definitely need your space."
9. Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux
(Michael Carpenter/WENN.com)
I'm not 100% convinced that these two are still together, but you have to admit that if they are, they're really in no hurry to take their engagement to its logical conclusion. They've been together since 2011 and engaged since 2012, meaning that at this point, their engagement has lasted longer than their relationship. I don't get it, personally, but at least they're enjoying themselves! (Hopefully.)
10. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka
(Brian To/WENN.com)
This is a slightly different situation, since NPH and David got engaged in 2006, during a time when same-sex marriage wasn't yet legal. But when the Defense Of Marriage Act fell in 2011, they officially announced their engagement, but the haven't announced any wedding plans since then, preferring to focus on their twins via surrogate, Gideon and Harper.
11. Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga
(ayesVision/WENN.com)
Again, this is a tricky situation, because while Jennifer and David became engaged in September 2008, very soon after beginning their relationship, that happy moment was disrupted by the tragic murders of Jennifer's mother, brother, and nephew in October 2008. It put their wedding plans on hold, and Jennifer has never seen a reason to take them off the back burner:
"Yes, there was a date set, and that date has come around again every year. In fact, the date may keep rolling around. We've never broken up. When I'm ready to be married, I will be married. It's that simple. Everyone should just chill. Our relationship is very strong. We're both huge family people, and I'm only going to get married once. So I'm not rushing into anything."
12. Naomi Watts and Liev Schrieber
(Adriana M. Barraza/WENN.com)
ALthough they've been together since 2005 and have two children, Liev and Naomi are both children of divorce themselves, so they're hesitant to make that commitment. Liev says:
"Maybe one day we'll just wake up and go, 'Hey, let's do this.' And maybe not."
And Naomi adds:
"He and I have a family. We're very much together. We just don't have that certificate, and that's OK with both of us."
13. Ricky Gervais and Jane Fallon
(Stefan Jeremiah/WENN.com)
These two have been together since 1982, but there's never been a doubt in either of their minds that they're not interested in getting married or having kids. Says Ricky:
"There's no point in us having an actual ceremony before the eyes of God because there is no God."
And there you have it!
